This week we have read a few plays. All of them have been a spoof on an original children’s favorite. For example we have read Slurping Beauty instead of Sleeping Beauty and The Three Little Elephants instead of The Three Little Pigs. Think of another fairytale that you could change slightly. What would you change: characters, setting, etc?
Please list the different types of simple machines. How many are there? What is the purpose of a machine? If you need help please look on the blog under simple machines.
This week we have learned about biographies. What are some of the characteristics of a biography? What famous person from Massachusetts are you reading about? What is something you have found interesting about that person?
Our math focus has been on geometry. We have learned about right angles, perpendicular lines, interesecting lines, parallel lines, turns etc. Explain to another student what a perpendicular line or right angle is? Respond here.
Len Cabral tells amazing stories. He shared three with us on Thursday. One was about a leprechaun and Carners. The second one a memory from ice skating with his brothers and baked potatoes. Which one was your favorite? Why? Did you have a connection to either story? Have you tried to retell a story before in your own words?
This week we had a visit from Captain Bangs Hallet. He shared with us his history and how whaling was a large part of Yarmouth back in his day. What is something you remember from his visit? Be specific with a detail or two.
Our class blog is finally up and running! We have been working very hard on the new design and updating it so that it is current.
